Thoughts From The Last Human Alive

Some will never see sleep again...

...but maybe now that this record is finished I might be able to find an hour or two to nap in (Hah....right!).  The record has finally passed through the final mixing process and was sent to mastering.  I'd like to take this moment and thank Ryan Wilson of 20WT and Florida Green for doing the final mixes on the record and Paul Lapinski of My Platinum Sound for mastering the record; they helped make the Animal Humanitis record the beautifully brutal project that it is.  The next step is to make sure that everyone in Florida knows about this record so that we can work the name Last Human Alive onto the metal map.  So for those of you out there getting on our mailing list and wanting to get involved in the LHA machine, we are looking for street teamers to help push our product around your city.  Promo materials are in the making; stickers, CDs, flyers, and even "CREW" shirts for the hardest working husslers.  So put out the word to anyone who wants free shit and we will hook you up at the nominal labor cost of passing out a few promos for us.  You efforts are beyond appreciated.

Head over to the "Releases" section to hear a promo track from the new album for your listening enjoyment.  It is going to be featured in the new full-length feature by Abyssmal Entertainment called Doomsday County, an independant horror film made by some of Orlando's best.  So LHA fans have twice the enjoyment from this film, an awesome horror film featuring a song from your favorite band, Last Human Alive.  Check it out! We know you all love horror movies...

It's the Final Countdown!....da-na-nah-nah....da-na-nah-nah-nah...

Writing, pre-production and recording are officially finished on our new record, Animal Humanitis.  We have entered the final stages of post-production and are working hard on finalizing our mixes to have them sent off for mastering.  So I'd say we are about 80-85% finished with this record.  As soon as the tracks sound beautiful we will be able to make them loud, heavy, and brutally available to your ears for enjoyment.  The mixes are coming together nicely; encouraging of the epic possibilities of our future projects.  Lots of hard work, is also being done on the merch and marketing levels to ensure that everyone knows about this amazing LHA release coming next month.  We are (so far) on schedule for our 10/10/10 album release and have a brutal show set up for our Discount Pre-release.  Yes, Discount Pre-release; we will have the album digitally available the day before and the night of the 10/9 show at Liquid Scrips.  So aside from getting our new record cheap through digital download, we will also have discount "economy cds" available at the Pre-release show for lower price than the later copies.  These will be artless replications for your listening enjoyment, so if you want all the visual flash that goes with the record, you will have to wait for the Grand Release Show which will be stock-piled with goodies for your consumer enjoyment (Grand Release Show to be announced at a future date).  Keep checking back for details on the Grand Release and new merch.  Don't forget to come check out the next show at Liquid Scrips on October 9th, and come celebration the completion of our first full-length record with us.  Salud!

Time is Relative...

So I'm sure everyone has noticed that we have been talking about recording and releasing a full length album for a long while now, and for us it feels like just yesterday that we began mentioning it.  Well, I thought I'd really update you with a little bit of detail...

All instruments have been recorded and completely tracked.  Drums, guitars, and bass have all been laid down, including our ussual sampling and random sound effects.  We were finished with vocals, then realised on a second, third...fifteen hundredth listening (not to mention some 3rd party listeners' input), we found that we were not using the most appropriate equipment.  In short, we ripped apart a couple SM58s and replaced the transformers inside.  Mercenary Audio makes a great transformer that can turn an SM58 into an SM7....well, not literally...but audibly, it's pretty damn close.  So now the vocals are being re-re-re-rerecorded and coming out 10x better.

It's all coming together, as soon as we are completely satisfied with the recorded tracks then we will officially begin the post production work; mixing, mastering then finally releasing.  It will be worth it, don't worry.  Besides, the more I think about it, we can't stop writting.  As soon as we are completely through with this project I'm sure the new one will already be in the works and we will quickly start testing songs on you live.  It's never-ending... but we love it!  Writing and performing are the best parts of the gig; why would we slow that roll?

More ramblings soon.

Peace, prosperity and communal support,
Paul -LHA
